Bromsgrove Cricket Club
Junior Boars Programme
Junior Boars is the new entry point to Bromsgrove Cricket Club for all young cricketers aged between 5 – 13. The sessions are run at the Club by our coaching partners, Try Scoring Runs.
Children will develop their cricket skills in all 3 disciplines of batting, bowling and fielding over time. Once they are in the age range to be considered for Age Group Squad Training, their skills and commitment to cricket will be assessed to establish their suitability to be promoted to the hard ball cricket coaching groups (subject to availability of spaces).
Junior Boars runs on a Wednesday evening starting 25th April until 27th June
For more details of the Junior Boars programme please see the attached flier. (Flier to be attached)

Age Group Squads
Age Group squad training is aimed at children aged between 9 – 17 who have gained cricket experience either through our Junior Boars programme or at another Club/School.
Any children
aged between 9 – 13 will first be invited to join the Junior Boars programme
for initial assessment. Children who demonstrate the necessary skills and commitment to cricket and practice will be invited to join their age group squad (if spaces are available).
The Age Group squads include all players who represent Bromsgrove Cricket Club in both incrediball and hard ball cricket in the Worcestershire County League fixtures.
Age Group Squad co-ordinator: Tracy Husbands
Junior registration will be on Saturday 24th April between 10.30am - 12.30pm. This is also the day of Cricket Force which runs from 10am, so if you are able to help out too that would be great! There are plenty of jobs to do so we can get the ground facilities ready.
Coaching will commence on the Friday 13th April
Under 9: TBA
Under 10: Mike Benison
Under 11: Richard Barnes
Under 12: Gareth Williams
Under 13 - Matt Dalloway

Open Age Cricket
From the age of 13 (or 12 if involved in a County age group) children will be allowed to take part in open age cricket on Saturday/Sunday afternoons.
Our experience tells us that the sooner children are involved in playing cricket with adults, the quicker they develop. This is especially important for children who are either involved in or trying to get selected for County age group cricket.
We strongly encourage all children playing in an age group squad from Under 14 up to make themselves available to play open age cricket when the opportunity arises.
County nominations
Our very best players at each age group will be nominated for Worcestershire County trials which take place at the end of the season. This represents a fantastic opportunity for children to represent not only Bromsgrove but also Worcestershire either as Rapids and A squad.
A new feedback loop is being put into place this year with each County age group manager to ensure that the Club coaches and County coaches are aligned on individual coaching programmes.
Strong performances at the older County age groups can put children on the pathway for England selection.
